These networks are known by many names, including (but not limited to): datacasting networks, intelligent visual information systems, digital signage, place-based media, retail media networks, digital in-store merchandising, electronic billboards, out-of-home media networks, digital media networks, electronic display networks, narrowcasting networks, and my personal favorite - captive audience networks. Ad Networks
Ad networks connect Web sites that want to host advertisements with advertisers who want to run advertisements. It can be as simple as Google’s AdWords, which allows anyone with a credit card to promote just about anything or as vast as DoubleClick’s DART system (now owned by Google), which handles billions of impressions for some of the largest agencies, advertisers, and Web publishers on the planet. The size, scope, and offering of the ad networks in the space today are mind boggling, with new networks popping up regularly. What’s your experience with these puppies? Please share. Got a question? Post it here.

Content
“It’s the content, stupid.” No matter what we do in the digital realm (and elsewhere), it’s always been about the content and always will be. We connect with meaningful content (ever laugh your pants off or shed crocodile tears while watching a movie?) and never has the concept of creating value through content been so important as it is in digital marketing, where the medium provides a for marketers and advertisers to individualize and personalize the message.
